Coolsculpting FAQ
How can I get the best results from CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting freezes fat that is then metabolized through the body. This process relies on the lymphatic system to help with the elimination of the treated fat. At Blue Water Spa / Michael law MD, we offer CoolSculpting Complete which includes vibrational therapy at no additional fee. This device is designed to increase circulation and assist with lymphatic drainage. As a patient, we suggest that you watch your diet, avoid processed, particularly salty foods and increase your water intake. Some time of moderate exercises daily, walking or treadmill, for example will also increase circulation and support the lymphatic system. Even is a person does not make any changes whatsoever to their lifestyle, they will see changes with CoolSculpting, but our patients ask about doing everything possible to maximize results. healthy habits definitely make a difference.
How does CoolSculpting Work?
CoolSculpting uses precisely controlled cooling to freeze and eliminate fat cells from the body. An application with suction is attached to fatty areas of the body and then the area is cooled for the one hour duration of the treatment.
Clinical studies of CoolSculpting report an average of 20 to 30-percent fat loss per treated area.

Is CoolSculpting a weight loss procedure?
No, CoolSculpting is a spot reducing procedure. However, some patients do find that they lose some weight after CooSculpting sessions.
How many sessions are required to see results with CoolSculpting?
There are some practices that promote significant changes after a single treatment. Although it is true that some people will see a significant change after one treatment, we would prefer to have our clients prepared for two sessions for the most benefit. For larger, or more stubborn areas, some people may need as many a three sessions. Although it is impossible to absolutely predict the result, during a consultation, our technicians can give you an idea of what to expect during a treatment, and how many treatments you might need for optimal results.
How long does a procedure take?
Each CoolSculpting session takes one hour per area. In the office of Blue Water Spa / Michael Law MD, we offer CoolSculpting Complete, so we have 2 Coolsculting units. Therefore, two areas (like a left and a right love handle) can be treated simultaneously. In other practices, treating love handles would performed one at a time with a total treatment time of two hours. We also recommend that clients experience a 10 minute vibrational therapy session prior to each CoolSculpting treatment in order to enhance results by stimulating lymphatic drainage. This is a pleasant treatment that we offer at no additional charge in order to provide our patients the best results possible.
Does it hurt?
People respond differently to CoolSculpting. Some people find mild discomfort associated with the procedure, others find elements of the treatment extremely uncomfortable, Each procedure begins with a technician expertly applying the applicator to the skin and fat to be treated. The appropriate placement of the handpiece is critical for both he treatment result and discomfort associated with the treatment. The first few minutes of each session can be uncomfortable, like a pinching sensation as the skin is drawn into the handpiece. After several minutes, the cooling will numb the are so that people are comfortable during their hour long session. Some people do report discomfort approximately five days after the treatments have been performed as the fat is being processed through the body. This, again, is why lymphatic drainage is important.
What do I do during a session?
We want you to sit back and relax. Some patients read, work on their laptaps, listen to music, or sleep during their sessions.
Can I return to normal activities after my treatment?
Yes you can. The procedure is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to your normal activities immediately. Some patients may experience redness, minor bruising, tingling, numbness or discomfort in the treated area, but this is temporary and will resolve completely. Most patients return to work immediately after the session is over.
